Christine Nelson-Voigt
My primary focus is on the relationships people have with themselves, their partners, their families, and their community.
I am registered with the Alberta College of Social Workers. I have a Master of Social Work degree from the University of Calgary where I specialized in Clinical Social Work.
I have been trained in and informed by several schools of thought/theories: Emotionally Focused Therapy (couples and individuals), The Gottman Method, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Attachment Theory, Solution Focused Therapy, Internal Family Systems Theory, Client Centred Therapy, and Trauma Informed Care. Having worked for over ten years in child and family psychiatry in both an inpatient and day patient setting, I have extensive experience in mental health; including depression, anxiety, obsessive compulsive disorder (OCD), Tourette’s Disorder, and Attention Deficit Hyperactive Disorder (ADHD). I’ve facilitated various groups for parents and their children, and worked one-on-one with families as they attempt to face the daily challenges which accompany mental health.
I am a Certified Sex Addiction Therapist (CSAT) and Certified Couples Betrayal Recovery Trauma Therapist (CCBRT), which enables me to work with sex addicts and individuals struggling with problematic compulsive sexual behaviours, their partners, and/or the couple.

I came to Christine at a very vulnerable time in my life related to both my career and long-term relationship. The sessions meant so much to me, and I appreciated her empathy, understanding, and guidance. She was able to challenge my perspective in a gentle but direct and honest way, which helped me find clarity and resolution. I felt believed and accepted, which hadn't happened in a long time. I have since been able to make significant changes, and want to thank Christine for helping me through some of the most challenging times of my career. Thank you Christine!
I came to Christine during a relationship ending divorce. She expertly guided me through the journey with calm practical skill. Her greatest attribute was in reinforcing to me that the relationship ended but did not fail. Christine is current on psychological approaches on this issue and provided a perspective that greatly diminished my sense of self-imposed guilt. I found her easy to open up to on sensitive issues and supportive in dispelling antiquated notions of marriage and relationships. I received great value from my sessions that created a very healthy experience for me.
